Jackie Gleason was a true media genius. In an age long before the teleprompter allowed politicians to deliver speeches written by others, he walked onto the stage with barely an idea of where the show was going and pulled it off for audiences week after week. Of course, he had another comedic genius with perfect timing by the name of Art Carney to help him. Who could watch “The Honeymooners” and put forward any actor of that age who could have replaced him as Ralph’s sidekick?

For those not entirely familiar with the show, “Ralph Cramden” (played by Gleason) was always getting himself in a jam with his words and get-rich-quick schemes and they were always made worse by “Ed Norton” (played by Art Carney). In one particular episode, the very large Ralph, along with his perennial sidekick Norton, are shooting pool in the neighborhood and get into an argument with a man literally half the size of Ralph. The small man does not like being pushed around, but he realizes that he is surely no match for the much larger Ralph. Having had enough, he announces to Ralph, “If you do not let us have this table I’m going in and tell my friend Harvey.” Ralph, quite wrongly as he soon finds out, feels that no one named Harvey can be much of a man and tells the smaller man to go tell him, and bring him back too!

A few moments later, dressed in a very dapper suit and hat with a pool cue in his hand, a formidable man announces to Ralph that he is Harvey and wants to know what the problem is. Ralph immediately backs down, but true to form, Norton opens his mouth and the scene ends with Ralph being told to show up at the gym on Friday night to put the gloves on. And if he doesn’t show up, Harvey says he’s coming to get him.

Ralph races home and starts packing his bags. When his wife Alice finds out she asks where he’s going and he says he’s leaving town for a few weeks and not to worry as he knows how to take care of himself. With the timing up there with the best comedy teams in American history, Art Carney delivers, “If you knew how to take care of yourself you wouldn’t have to leave town.”

Joe Biden, Obama’s “Bensonhurst Bomber”, has been brought onto the Barack Obama team so that he, unlike Ralph, does not have to leave town. There’s one problem here. John McCain is not “Ralph.” John McCain is a war hero who thankfully survived over 5 years as a tortured guest of the North Vietnamese in the Hanoi Hilton. And while he and Joe Biden have been friends for a long time, it is doubtful that their friendship will interfere with the mission John McCain is now on.
Barack Obama was charged by the Hillary Clinton team with not really being in touch with American values. He apparently does not understand that Americans do not look kindly upon weaklings who get others to do their fighting for them, as he will soon find out. Nor does he realize that while in its day, Bensonhurst, Brooklyn might have been one tough part of town. But lessons learned from 5 years in captivity in Hanoi will make it appear to be like a day on the rides in nearby Coney Island!
 
Barack Obama is feeling secure right now with Joe Biden at his side. He even told us recently, "If I have the American people by my side, then I fear no man, and I fear no woman." But the selection of 65 year old Joe Biden reeks of nothing BUT fear from the Obama camp right now. And when the politics of this electoral season are over, he may well find that this time, it is he who is going to end up under the bus.

McCain v. Obama: Face-off against The Jabberwocky

Lewis Carroll purposefully penned "The Jabberwocky" as an example of how not to write a poem. It now appears to any thinking man or woman that Barack Obama has been given to the American people to understand what characteristics are missing in a candidate for the office of President of the United States. Looking to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, we find - "jabberwocky: meaningless speech or writing". That appears to be a quite cogent definition of what has been the leading democrat's platform to Americans as we are offered up platitudes, obfuscation of events with shady characters, and a doctrine born of Marx. Barack Obama may well have a date with literary destiny when this election is over as he has been every bit the Jabberwocky of which Lewis Carroll wrote. 

To have a new word generated from Washington politics would not be a rare or unusual feat. Jurist Robert Bork was denied confirmation to the Supreme Court due to his strict constructionist beliefs of what a Justice was charged with performing from the bench. So blatantly wrong was his denial of confirmation that the American lexicon now contains the word, "borked", as slang for someone who received the short end of the stick, to put it politely.

What places Barack Obama in the running for this addition into our vernacular? Numerous gaffs can be selected as evidence as his townhall meetings are replete with examples once his teleprompter is removed. We were graced with an astonishing one this past week while most in America cheered for our Olympians as they raced for the gold. Never missing a chance to go on the offensive against America, Obama stated: 
 
"Everybody's watching what's going on in Beijing right now in the Olympics. Think about the amount of money that China has spent on infrastructure. Their ports, their train systems, their airports are all vastly superior to us now, which means if you're a corporation deciding where to do business, you're starting to think Beijing looks like a pretty good option."

Were Beijing located outside of communist China, and had events truly been as they appeared and not staged at great expense, then indeed American business might being looking to invest in Beijing. However, the extraordinarily myopic Barack Obama, again veering off into an area he knows nothing about and without his teleprompter, apparently failed to hear the reports of military camps where the participants of the opening ceremonies stayed for a year while practicing on two meals a day. I suspect that the discipline dispensed inside the camp for an ill-timed movement would have the offender begging for a Catholic nun with a brass ruler overlooking them instead. And of course, Mr. Obama does not consider that this illusion was also brought to us by 900 members of the PRC military. They were charged with operating the huge scroll and wore diapers as they were not allowed to leave their posts for six to eight hours. 

Having spent over twenty-five years on Wall Street, I suspect that businesses are not relying on only this one televised event to make their investment decisions. Rather than taking the words of a politician, they likely have seen one of  many articles in publications such as "The Epoch Times", which reported in February of this year that when a snowstorm arrived in China it left millions without power or transportation, all due to insufficiencies in its core infrastructure. That is not the China that Obama now speaks about so glowingly. 

And last, but not least, we cannot forget the 1989 student massacre at Tiananmen Square. After the cameras were ordered removed they were savagely gunned down to the tune of 2000 or more. This is particularly salient as that young man who stood in front of the tank reminds me of Obama's position on how to deal with ones enemies. Is there anyone who thinks that student survived the massacre that followed? When Chinese students are shown that picture today it is as unfamiliar to them as "The Rape of Nanking" is to Japanese students because it has been ommitted from Japanese textbooks. Just as Stalin did to his enemies, that picture of the young man has been removed from Chinese history.

These behind the scenes Olympic events are just two of the incidents clouding the Opening Ceremonies that some have hailed as being prima facie evidence of China now being a world power. Personally, I'd say the better evidence is the blue water fleet they have been building, as did Japan prior to WW II, with all the scrap metal they have stripped from America.
  
So it is now seasoned John McCain versus a presidential "Jabberwocky." Oh fabrous day, conservatives, oh fabrous day indeed. And as to China's "vastly superior" infrastructure, it appears to be built upon the same foundation that Barack Obama's "vastly superior" platform and lead in the polls was built upon - SAND!

Obama's Energy Rebate and the Oldest Profession

    There's an old story where a man asks a woman if she will sleep with him for $1 million. In fact, Robert Redford, Demi Moore, and Woody Harrelson essentially made a movie about it entitled "Indecent Proposal." If the woman says for that amount she would sleep with the man, the next question posed is "what does $10 get?" The woman is rightfully outraged and the man replies, "but I thought we already established your ethics....I don't see why you are upset as I am only negotiating price."

    Barack Obama has promised every family, despite yet again there being no Constitutional powers for robbing Exxon-Mobil to pay the voter, a $1000 rebate from oil companies. This is not just dictatorial in nature, but distressing in economic theory as many companies make far more as a percentage of capital invested than oil companies. Who is next to be targeted for what Obama sees as excess profits? I did not see on his tax return that he surrendered half his royalties from his books to the National Treasury to be sent to the people. 
   Am I personally happy that I have not seen some sort of rebate established, by choice, by oil companies via a dedicated credit card and consumption? No, I admit that I wish something was being done for those who due to work are driving 500 miles a week or more. But I also don't like my neighbor looking at a new purchase of mine and demanding I pay a portion of his property taxes. That, I fear, is the socialist mindset that is being created as Obama promises cradle-to-grave existence as an American, which is essentially a major tenet of Marxist thought. After all, "From each according to his abilities, to each according to his needs" is being pushed on the national consciousness by Obama and the democrats. Hubert Humphrey would be appalled at what his party has become.
     Returning to my initial story about surrendering ones body for compensation I can't but help ask the reader what price his vote is worth? Is it okay just this one time to compromise your ethics for what you perceive to be your own personal, short-term profit? We have gone from throwing out "soft money" and liquor for votes on Election Day, although six states and some localities still close their bars, to literally robbing the corporate Peter to pay Paul, the voter. What is often forgotten in the deal is that corporations still employ many Americans as they are demonized for the profits made that pays the wages of the workers.
     With these growing promises of the money of others from Barak Obama - promises born of his life-long embrace of the desired policies of Marx -  we are on our way to besting the corruption of democratic Tammany Hall politics of old and we risk becoming "Tammany America". Enjoy your drink - the bottom of the glass is seen quickly!

“Madame Defarge Obama”

         After listening diligently to Hugh Hewitt’s masterful presentation of Michelle Obama over the last few weeks, as she lampoons all that is good in America, we would do well to recognize that as we gaze into the psychotic eyes of this woman that we are witnessing Hillary Clinton Redux. The “Vote for One and you get Two” template has already worked once and they do mean to repeat it, which is likely why she has not been placed in the rubber room to which Teresa Heinz Kerry was quickly escorted. The only difference this time is that she has no intention of saying she just wants to bake cookies with her daughters. She is going right for her own personal brass ring every bit as much as her husband, the now willingly emasculated Barack, as she intends to be a Senator from Illinois at some point when this Kabuki dance mercifully ends. 
         Mrs. Obama now tours America by essentially speaking for Karl Marx as she borrows a line from Samuel Clemens, “Reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated”; resurrecting his platform against the dreaded bourgeoisie, save for those who have authored books about “Change and Hope” as well as “Hope and Change”. There is every indication that those factually challenged writers from the left will receive the full protection of the First Amendment, and at taxpayer expense. Mark Steyn, author of “America Alone”, however, might be able to straddle the demarcation line of both Canada and the United States soon and be convicted of hate speech in both nations with a “Scarlet S” sewn to his attire. After all, a four year apology tour under a democratic president will necessitate a Ray Bradbury brand of censorship and mea culpas for the crime of speaking your mind. If this is at all confusing, I would suggest a reading of Kafka’s “The Trial” to understand the new landscape approaching American politics where the question “How do you feel today?” can only generate a response of “How am I supposed to feel?”
         What can we expect from a dual Obama presidency? For starters, we will see a rather weak Illinois senator replacing Mr. Obama so that when his tenure is over – hopefully in ruins after 4 Carteresque years we must hope to survive – his wife may assume the throne while he begins his Arab nations speaking tour. One can only imagine how much a former president with a middle name of Hussein will be paid in speaking engagement fees. But we will not be through with the Obamas. Like those of us old enough to have suffered Teddy Kennedy through our entire adult lives, we will have a mean and bitter Madam “Defarge” Obama to now contend with now. One should recall that the Dickens’ character blamed all of her woes on the French aristocracy and upon one family in particular, of which the Bush family will surely suffice. While Dickens’ Madame Defarge experienced true personal tragedy and oppression, our Madame “Defarge” Obama has been a child of relative privilege, offered a place at the table solely based upon her husband, as was Hillary Clinton. There is never room enough for two queens. So is it any wonder that the Clintons are being pushed from the stage in nothing less than, as James Carville stated of Bill Richardson, Judas like betrayals? “The Queen is dead, long live the Queen”. This one sells more easily to the same minds that stood in front of Marx, Lenin, Hitler, Castro, and all the other demagogues that brought ruination to their lands. Of the Obama supporters I know, including a few Catholic Monsignors, not one of them understands that they stand in the same well-intentioned shoes of those that came before them. The problem is that while we hear the chains rattling around their feet as they move, they believe that we have to try something different, we have to change. I dare say that those who were given five hundred yards of rail in Stalin’s Russia and were told to extend the track and build their own gulag when they were done had started out with similar intentions and hopes that were just as noble. They received “change” as well as chains.
      Let us hope that our own Madame Defarge leaves the stage in November, for if she does not, the construction of a mental guillotine in America will begin shortly thereafter. She can even be theatrical in her leaving by saying, "It is a far, far better thing that I do, than I have ever done; it is a far, far better rest that I go to, than I have ever known", if she so desires.
